Research shows that relational wellness is vital for first responder resilience. However, many first responders and their families are unaware of the adjustments needed to endure the career, leading to miscommunication, conflict, and mental health issues. It's crucial for them to understand the job's impact and how to counter it. This session will cover key elements for first responders and their families to enhance safety, resilience, and well-being.


Bonnie Eckman Integrating Sesory Strategies for Regulating the Nervous System

Bonnie will highlight the importance of sensory strategies for self-regulation, self-care, and stress management among first responders. In high-pressure situations, these strategies help regulate emotions, improve focus, and reduce stress. She will teach techniques using all 8 senses—vision, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, vestibular, proprioception, and interoception—to promote relaxation and resilience. Through case studies and interactive exercises, participants will learn to integrate these sensory strategies into their routines, enhancing well-being and resilience in both professional and personal life.
